Lisbon's great riverside square, built after the 1755 earthquake on the site of the royal palace, with the bronze statue of King José the First at its centre.

The triumphal arch on the north side of Praça do Comércio, finished in 1873 and crowned by a seven-metre figure of Glory.

Santa Justa Lift
A forty-five-metre neo-Gothic iron lift opened in 1902, linking the Baixa with Largo do Carmo by a walkway in the air. When it is not running, take the stone steps behind the tower.

The Gothic church founded in 1389 by Nuno Álvares Pereira, open to the sky since the 1755 earthquake and now an archaeological museum.
